Application metadata
Despite the general similarity, the appearance of the application page hhas quite significant differences.
- The difference between user-visible and user-accessible elements, such as the keywords field on the App Store.
- The difference in technical requirements for metadata, such as the number of characters available.
- Differences in the importance of fields for ranking algorithms
A brief checklist for Apple's app store:
- Title (30 characters)
- Create a simple and concise name (combine brand name and keywords)
- Use relevant keywords with high traffic rates
- Localize the name for each country
- Subtitle (30 characters)
- It is used in addition to the title and is the logical consequence
- Use relevant keywords
- Do not duplicate words with title and keywords
- Keywords field (100 characters)
- All keywords are written separately, separated by commas and without spaces
- Do not use sentences; check the right combination of keywords in key queries
- Remember to configure additional regional settings (almost all countries have them)
- Check the title+subtitle+keywords combination
A brief checklist for Google's PlayStore:
- Title (30 characters)
- Create a simple and concise name (combining brand name and keywords) that reflects the essence of the application
- Use relevant keywords with a high traffic rate
- Do not use the words “best”, “free” or “top” in the name of the application
- Do not use emojis in the app name
- Do not use caps lock except for acronyms, abbreviations, and unique brand names.
- Brief description (80 characters)
- Is used in addition to the noun and is its logical continuation
- Use relevant keywords
- It is possible to repeat the corresponding key queries
- Do not use emojis in the app’s short description
- Description of the application (4000 characters)
- Inform the user of the main features of the application
- Mention the features and benefits of the application
- We recommend that you do not use keywords more than once every 250 characters to avoid spamming
- Do not fill your metadata with words that are not directly related to your application
- Be careful when using keywords about the number of installs, rewards and promotions that are not related to the functionality of the application
- The optimal length of the description is 2000-2500 characters.

Additional locale settings
Additional locales, as shown in the internal ranking factors table, for Google Play have a fairly terse limitation: 1 country, 1 location. For the user, the language of the device is important, because it will determine the language of the application page.
For ASO optimization of iOS apps, the concept of extra locales is quite a big issue. The App Store is represented in over 175 countries around the world and almost every country has an additional locale.
Cross-localization occurs when keywords in a locale can span multiple countries. For example, the UK locale is the most common and covers 153 countries, which means you can use it to expand your keyword field for almost any country. Some countries have more than two additional locales – for example, Switzerland has 3 more indexed to its German locale.
